Single-Family San Fernando Valley Incentives are Now Available
San Fernando Valley residents interested in accessing single-family incentives will need to work with an enrolled TECH Clean California contractor and complete customer verification. See more details on how to begin below.
Follow These Steps to Incentives:
Step 1.
Confirm your home is located within an eligible Aliso Canyon priority community ZIP Code:
91303, 91304, 91305, 91306, 91307, 91308, 91309, 91311, 91312, 91313, 91316, 91324, 91325, 91326, 91327, 91328, 91329, 91330, 91335, 91337, 91343, 91344, 91401, 91402, 91403, 91404, 91405, 91406, 91407, 91408, 91409, 91410, 91411, 91412, 91413, 91416, 91423, 91426, 91436.
Step 2.
Visit the Customer Verification Portal
All customers, regardless of interest in income-qualified incentives, must visit the Customer Verification Portal (coming later today) and complete the steps listed below.
The Customer Verification Portal securely verifies eligibility before your contractor submits your project application.
Some households may qualify for higher incentive amounts based on household income. In addition to larger incentives, income-qualified incentives are available for additional product types to help customers fully electrify their homes. Income verification will be completed within seven business days.
How it works:
- Complete the customer household information form and sign the Program Terms and Conditions in the Customer Verification Portal.
- If you’re interested in income-qualified incentives, upload any required documentation to verify eligibility.
- Receive your Customer Eligibility Code. Your code will start with “MR” if you were approved for general market incentives. Your code will start with “IQ” if you were approved for income-qualified incentives.
- Share your eligibility code with your participating contractor. If you have already selected a TECH Clean California-enrolled contractor when you fill out your application, you can provide their contact information to share your customer eligibility code automatically.
- Your contractor uses the code when submitting your reservation request.
Higher income-qualified incentives are available for households earning less than 80 percent of area median income (AMI).
The program AMI for Los Angeles County is shown below, based on a customer’s household size.
| Household Size | 80% AMI Limit |
|---|---|
| 1 | $93,300 |
| 2 | $106,600 |
| 3 | $119,950 |
| 4 | $133,250 |
| 5 | $143,900 |
| 6 | $154,600 |
| 7 | $165,250 |
| 8 | $175,900 |
Step 3.
Select an enrolled TECH Clean California Contractor
General Market Customers:
Find a contractor on The Switch Is On Contractor Finder Tool. San Fernando Valley incentives are available only through TECH Clean California contractors with the San Fernando Valley badge in their contractor profile.
Income-Qualified Customers:
Income-qualified households are required to work with contractors that are eligible to provide income-qualified incentives. You can filter the list of contractors for those that offer income-qualified incentives, or check the contractor’s profile on The Switch Is On Contractor Finder Tool to determine if the contractor can provide income-qualified incentives. If you are already working with a contractor, confirm they are eligible to provide income-qualified incentives.
Step 4.
Your Contractor Reserves Funding
Your contractor submits a reservation request using your customer eligibility code to set aside incentive funding for your project. Funding is not reserved for your project until the program team approves the reservation request. You will receive email updates throughout the incentive process, including a confirmation email after the reservation request is approved.
You can track the status of your incentive throughout the process using the Track Your Incentive Tool. To check your status, you will need your customer eligibility code received in the customer verification process.
Step 5.
Your Contractor Installs the Equipment
After the reservation request is approved, your contractor has 120 days from reservation approval to complete your installation and close the building permit for your project. If your project needs more time, your contractor needs to reach out to the program before your reservation expires to request an extension. Extensions will be granted on a case-by-case basis.
Step 6.
Complete Project Permits
Together, you must work with your contractor to finish and close all applicable permits for your project. This will require you to work with your contractor and your local permitting department to schedule a site visit and/or inspection to ensure the project is validated and up to code. Until the permit(s) for your project are closed and that documentation is passed to your contractor, your contractor will not be able to submit the incentive application for the project or receive incentives.
Step 7.
Enroll in Utility Programs (if applicable)
In the customer verification portal, you agreed to enroll in applicable programs that help you save more with smart energy use, while also helping to make electricity more clean, reliable, and affordable for all.
The program requirements are dependent upon the equipment installed and your utility company, as shown in this flyer.
Step 8.
Project Submission and Approval
After installation is complete, your contractor submits the incentive application and all required project documents.
The program team reviews the incentive application within two weeks of first submission. The contractor may need to make corrections to the information provided, which would extend the time until payment is issued.
When the incentive application is approved, the program team issues the incentive payment to your contractor.
Step 9.
Your Contractor Receives the Incentive Payment
After the incentive application is approved, your contractor receives the incentive payment from the program. Depending on your agreement with your contractor, you may receive the incentive as an instant discount on your invoice or as a payment from your contractor within 30 days of payment from the program. Contractors offering income-qualified incentive amounts must offer incentives as an instant discount on your invoice.
