Course Description: This course engages contractors about the importance and value of installing a thermostatic mixing valve with every heat pump water heater installation. Thermostatic mixing valves are code in many jurisdictions and a program requirement for California’s heat pump water heater programs, including TECH Clean California. Max Rohr of Caleffi Hydronic Solutions presents on how to install and use TMVs for heat pump water heater systems in existing homes.

Annual Report 2022-2023

TECH Clean California is a market transformation initiative authorized by Senate Bill 1477 and designed to increase the adoption of high-efficiency, low-emissions space and water heating technologies. Energy Solutions, along with its partners comprising the TECH Clean California team, was selected following a competitive proposal process and launched the program in 2021. In July 2022, Governor Gavin Newsom announced a goal of installing six million heat pumps by 2030, with 50 percent of benefits flowing to low-income households and disadvantaged communities.
